The article discusses the relationship of prisoners with the outside world through the mass media, particularly through television coverage of the news. The mentioned relationship is considered from the point of view of social communication, journalism, mass communication, sociology, science of penal law. The TV report is viewed from the perspective of social communication technologies which have a system of manipulation of action-complexes, designed to change the behavior of communication in the society. The study explains the features of the regulatory function of the television reporting, describes the social action, interaction and relationships arising in the course of communicating with the media through television report the news to individuals/ groups of society, in particular prisoners. The study states that the TV report is not able to perform the regulatory function in the system of news discourse, because today is not running/not running in full its main purpose, which is to create a positive reflection on the information received.
