Operational printing method is currently occupying an increasing niche in the printing industry. The share of digital print orders is constantly increasing. This is primarily due to the high print quality of modern digital printing machines. In addition, digital printing method is characterized by efficiency and the ability to provide services that other types of printing cannot provide.
The industry’s standards for quality management of printed products are developed for classic types of printing. They do not take into account the peculiarities of the formation of digital images and the transfer of the parameters laid down in the layout to the finished product. There are no standardized methods for testing digital technology in terms of the quality of the final product.
The purpose of the work is to develop a methodology for assessing the digital printing quality. The results of the analysis of print quality by the proposed method will allow one to quantify the test print obtained using digital printing methods.
Comprehensive image quality assessment links the consumer’s visual assessment, instrumental assessment, and the physical print quality produced with digital printing equipment. At the same time, an important role in conducting a comprehensive assessment is played by the calibration of process links: measuring equipment and printing devices.
Each print quality parameter on the test strip will have its own test object, the measurement results of which will allow one to calculate the property score, and then the relative score. To calculate the complex indicator, the values of the weights of the properties are entered, which, using a simplified method, can be calculated by an expert. To do this, it is necessary to conduct an examination and determine the method for calculating the weights.
The developed complex methodology, under equal conditions, makes it possible to predict the digital printing quality and determine the price-quality ratio for different digital printing machines. The results of the testing and the complex quality indicator calculated on their basis coincide with the visual assessment of the studied prints obtained from different digital printing complexes.
