The features of contemporary periodicals for men in Ukraine have been studied. The main features of magazines for men have been revealed, their genrology, structure specifics have been researched. The problems of functioning of magazines for men in Ukraine have been revealed, prospects of such publications have been outlined, methods of improving the content of such periodicals have been suggested.

Regarding the prospects of magazine periodicals in Ukraine and magazines for men in particular, we believe that printed magazines will not disappear. The Internet and other new distribution channels (flash magazines and magazines that can be downloaded onto mobile phones) will not become an alternative to print media. Despite the obvious advantage of such editions over print media in certain aspects, we deny the possibility of their interchangeability. Mostly, unpublished periodicals have more informative and operative nature, while the press is characterized by analytical materials with qualitative illustrations.

In our opinion, among the topics of magazines that have future prospects in the Ukrainian magazine market, there will be such specialized publications, which will deal with industries in which large capital is concentrated, namely: construction, banks, finance, insurance, tourism. As a separate segment, there are specialized entertainment editions, publications for the secondary market of cars, building materials.

Genrology of publications depends on the thematic focus of the magazines. In our opinion, reviews of comments in social networks, expert advice, instructions on the use of certain tools, devices, etc. will be popular. Interviews and comments are also always relevant – as news about new items in a particular area. It is possible that new genres, including information, will appear, because the market dictates its needs, and journalists will look for new ways to interest and keep the reader’s attention.
