Formalized presentation of relations between factors of postpress processes design

The technological process of postpress of book editions has been analysed, which consists of the transformation of printed sheets and other structural elements into the finished book. The necessity of study of the factors influencing the quality of postpress design has been determined, which is a key stage for successful implementation of the necessary operations and ensuring the quality of the book edition. The set of factors of design of postpress processes has been distinguished, which includes eight components, namely: editions, structural features, operating conditions, a type of production, materials, a type of equipment, technological and economic calculations, a scheme of technological process. Each factor has been described. The key features of the theory of graphs and semantic networks and elements of predicate logic have been given. The feasibility of using the designed methods has been substantiated. The semantic network of links bet­ween the isolated factors influencing the quality of postpress design has been formed. In its structure, the semantic network is a directed graph whose set of nodes corresponds to a plurality of factors, and arcs – to functional links between them. Such a model is intui­tive, and serves as the basis for further description of the subject using predicate logic. The formal language of predicate logic is represented by terms (factors) and predicates (logical functions), which makes it possible to isolate and systematize the interconnections between the factors of the synthesized semantic network. Some construction of the language of predicates are presented, which are used for the formal description of the relations between the terms of semantic networks using predicate formulas. The prere­quisites for establishing the ranks of the factors of the studied process and the creation of a model of the priority influence of factors have been formed, which will serve the rationalization of postpress processes and will facilitate receiving the finished product of the expected quality.
