Information online special project for media audience: concept, typology and impact

The concept of information online social project is being widely discussed today. This article examines developing information special projects for the media audience. Recently, it has become one of the effective ways to organize the online media content due to the significant advances of Web 2.0 technologies. By analyzing studies in journalism, marketing, and project management the term «information special project» has been defined; its content markers have been considered including a range of special issues, their functions, time frame, target audience, multifaceted coverage of the issue, and the focus on attaining specific goals. Alongside, the paper analyzes the related terms, including a special topic, thematic package, special rubrics, special issue, special feature, special interview, and special investigative journalism. By examining «Procherk» (procherk.info), «Infomist» (infomist.ck.ua), and «in.ck.ua» («You are in Cherkasy»), Cherkasy online publishers, the author considers information special projects carried out in the region. The research has resulted in outlining typological features of special projects and determining their criteria including a thematic focus, the dominant type of content, layout method, functional purpose, and timeframe. Finally, we showed how content shapes media audience’s information competence.
