Basing on the analysis of abecedaries of Ukrainian publishing companies, such as «A-ba-ba-ha-la-ma-ga», «Ailes», «Veselka», «Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva», «Vydavets FO-P Zalohin S. O.», «Krystal-Buks», «Manho», «Pehas», «Pero», «Ranok», «Talant», «Shkola», «Iunisoft», «Vivat» of recent years of publishing main aspects of editorial work at this type of children publications were determined.

During the study, the following methods were used: the terminological analysis of the «children publications», «abecedary» concepts; comparison of the content and design of Ukrainian abecedary of various publishing companies; the analysis, synthesis, generalization were used to determine the main aspects to which an editor should pay attention during the prepublishing of Ukrainian abecedary.

The comparison and analysis of the content and design of Ukrainian abecedary of various publishing companies allowed to make a conclusion, that during its prepublishing it is worth to pay attention to such aspects: correspondence to the specified genre – abecedary; correspondence of the title to the content of publication; presence of all letters in the abecedary; careful selection of lexical information; correspondence to norms of modern Ukrainian literary language; marking of word stress; marking of a certain letter with another colour; careful selection of art considering educational potential and national traditions; correspondence between written and depicted. Abecedaries took their place in the Ukrainian market of publishing products, and there are significant achievements in the manufacturing of this type of children publications, but editorial and publishing treatment needs a constant attention of specialists.

Keywords: children publications, publishing company, editorial and publishing treatment, Ukrainian abecedary.
