The aticle deals with social and communication aspects of the interaction of books and cinematic art in the formation of interest in reading: books are filmed, both for adults and for children; movie scenes are the basis for artistic works; films cultivate love for reading, creating interest in this type of entertainment as an integral part of life; films increase interest in writers and poets, revealing the secrets of their life and work; the name of the writer, who won the prestigious prize for work on the grounds which a film was made, is used in its advertising; fragments of the film are the basis for the design of the cover of the publication; anniversaries of the birth or death are an occasion to draw attention to the public literature, in particular by means of cinema and so on.
