The regularities of the change of the main indicators of the grinding process for different types of deterioration and work of grinding wheels have been considered in the article. The changes in the cutting force, the roughness of the processed surface, the intensity of cut-off drop and the possible application of differently worked grinding wheels during grinding operations have been reviewed. An analysis of the influence of grinding wheels’ deterioration on the change in the geometry of abrasive grains and on the qualitative parameters of the processed surface has been carried out. The main factors have been highlighted, which have influence on the quality of the treated surface while grinding. The most rapidly changing factors have been found, which lose their initial condition and more often require interference in the grinding process and the grinding wheel adjustment to ensure the processing stability. The technological possibility of the controlled formation of the grinding wheel’s working surface by the help of a diamond tool adjustment has been established in the abrasive wheel grain fragile destruction mode during various grinding operations. On the basis of the analysis of the laws of fragile micro- and macro-destruction of abrasive grains, the maximum possible depths have been determined for a grinding wheel adjustment by a diamond tool in the mode of incomplete (micro) or full (macro) abrasive grains’ destruction during finishing and roughing operations of grinding. The obtained laws of abrasive grains’ fragile destruction are recommended for technological parameters determination of the adjustment process for a grinding wheel on ceramic bundle during various grinding operations in order to predict and provide processing indicators.
