The article analyzes the factor of ink temperature and how it affects the quality of art gravure printing technologies. We define an experimental research method as the basis for analyzing the influence of temperature. The study was conducted using three temperature regimes: 10-20°C, 20-30°C, 30-40°C. The experiments were conducted using a brass printing form, Charbonnel ink and other specialized and widely used materials for art gravure printing technologies. The chosen sequence of the experiment allowed us to track the influence of the selected temperature regimes on the final print quality.
The study had two main stages of the influence of temperature on the paint (where a thermal surface was used on which paint was applied and printing on an etching machine): application/wiping of excess paint and the printing process on an etching machine.
Analyzing the prints obtained during the experiment, it is worth noting indirect factors that can affect the quality of the print and the choice of temperature regime. The degree of moistening of the paper, the technique of manufacturing the printing form, the time and depth of etching of the form, the pressure during the printing process, the printing method (from one or two or more printing forms) are those factors that can affect the choice of a particular temperature regime. We note the need for a comprehensive approach to the beginning of the printing process, taking into account all factors.
The analysis showed that maintaining a temperature regime of 20-30°C under the given experimental conditions improves the quality of the prints. The use of temperatures of 10-20°C and 30-40°C revealed disadvantages that can have a negative effect on the print under certain conditions. An analysis of each factor that has an impact on the temperature of the ink has been carried out. A further direction of research may be the analysis of the properties of the effect of temperature on other printing processes, with changes in the conditions of the experiment and taking into account the results obtained.
